Hairspray is the musically rockin' story of Tracy Turnblad, a girl with some extra pounds, great dance moves and big dreams of being a teen dance idol on the local TV dance program "The Corny Collins Show." When Tracy wins a spot on the show she crosses paths with rival reigning queen of the show , teen heartthrob Link and the bitter truth of segregation. Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Hairspray features a heart pounding score of such favorites as “Welcome to the 60s,” “Good Morning, Baltimore,” “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”

Born in Providence on the Fourth of July, George M. Cohan gave us such songs as YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, OVER THERE, YOU'RE A GRAND OLD FLAG, and GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY and transformed Broadway. This  Tony award winning, fast paced show covers a 60-year period from his childhood in Rhode Island through the vaudeville years to his 25 year reign over Broadway.
