Lindsie Van Winkle Is Fabulous as Betty Haynes in White Christmas... where did she get that showstopping talent? Read on!

I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma, with my mother Lori and younger sister, Laci. I come from a predominately sport-playing family, so my love of singing and acting was a bit out of the box. However, my mother embraced my show choir contests, competitive drama contests, musical rehearsals, all-state choir camps and a very brief stint of violin playing; she was front and center for every show/concert/event.
I spent a few weeks every summer staying with my Granny and Papa in Moore, OK. When we weren't gardening or fishing, we would watch old movie musicals and listen to classic 40's and 50's music. I was enthralled by the story telling, the elaborate sets and costumes, and the clear, warm, vocal stylings. When I realized it was still being done, live, on stage AND you could do it for a living, go to college for it?!- it was a no brainer for me.
I was lucky to have been surrounded and guided by some amazing teachers in the Edmond Public School system. The wealth of performing opportunities, allowed me to gain confidence as an actor and as an awkward teen. I was accepted into the Musical Theatre program at The University of Central Oklahoma and that's where it all came together for me. Dr. Marilyn Govich and Dr. Greg White quickly became two of the most influential people in my life. I owe so much of who I am as an artist to them.
I would be remiss if I did not also mention Jen Waldman. She has been a corner stone of my artistic journey as an adult. The lessons I have learned from the JWS community are invaluable.
I was on tour with White Christmas two years ago, playing Tessie and understudying Betty; where I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Kelly Sheehan, Jeremy Benton and Janelle Neal. I have been watching the movie since I was a kid. It is a holiday tradition for me.
I could write a dissertation on the shows I love and why, but I'll spare you. Some of my favorite shows I've done include: My Fair Lady, The Spitfire Grill, Les Miserables, Hello, Dolly!, The Pajama Game, Little by Little, She Loves Me9 to 5:The Musical and Little Me. I have been very fortunate to play many of my dream roles, but there is a certain spoon-full-of-sugar wielding, flying nanny that I'm dying to play...
When not on stage, I love snuggling on the couch with my husband Scott and our furry child Mavis, the French Bulldog. I also enjoy cooking, crocheting (a hobby I picked up on the WC nat'l tour), brunch with my best girls, reading murder mysteries and imbibing on really good scotch.
I like a lot of variety in my music, so I tend to listen to a lot of movie soundtracks (Dirty Dancing, Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, Across the Universe, Beastly, and Dear John are on there right now). I'm a huge fan of Missy Higgins, Ray Lamontagne, Eminem, Sara Bareilles and Pink. Oh, and 80's pop hits. I live for 80's music. The invention of Pandora was a blessing for my music ADD.
