As you plan the upcoming 2011-2012 school year, you undoubtedly want to know about a unique enrichment opportunity coming to the Hudson Valley. In February we will be presenting BIG RIVERThe Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Join Huckleberry Finn and a host of colorful characters on a journey down the Mississippi River. Based on the timeless classic novel by Mark Twain, BIG RIVER features a toe-tapping score by Roger Miller. BIG RIVERThe Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a brilliantly crafted theatrical celebration of Americana.

In a schedule of performances designed to accommodate school groups running from February 2nd through the 26th, this vibrant cast tells the timeless story of one of our country’s greatest pieces of literature. Through powerful dialogue and heartfelt song, they bring the ever-lasting themes of diversity, tolerance, respect, and freedom front and center. A complete study guide aligned to the Common Core State Standards will be available to school groups who attend the performance. What better way to enrich your language arts and history curriculum?

As you know, February is Black History Month. In addition to immersing your students into the characters and story of Mark Twain, Big River serves as an ideal launch for many of the important lessons we need to reinforce during this significant month. Each weekday matinee performance will be followed by a post show discussion with the actors and technicians.

Ticket prices for the weekday matinee performance are $49 plus tax and gratuity, and include a full sit down served meal including salad, homemade rolls, your choice of six entrees and dessert. Students also receive the first soda free at the weekday matinee performances. One complimentary ticket given for every 24 tickets purchased.
