handsome and ambitious, the answer to Tracy’s dreams as she croons “I Can Hear
the Bells.”  Their duet, “It Takes Two,” rings true, while “Without Love” marks
a crisis in their relationship.  Elgin Giles plays Seaweed J. Stubbs who teaches
Tracy the dance moves that she takes from the ghetto to big time with his “Run
and Tell That.”  His sister, Little Inez, is played by Sydni Beaudoin as a
talented dancer who is at first rejected from the show for racial reasons.  Inga
Ballard makes Motormouth Maybelle a force of nature with her powerful voice,
exotic outfits and street-smart presence as she belts out “Big, Blonde &
Beautiful” and the show-stopping ”I Know Where I’ve Been.”

    This eye-filling, colorful and entertaining revival plays
for the month of May and is well worth the theater-dinner visit to Westchester
Broadway.
