New Production Reaches 'The Heights' of Westchester Broadway Theatre

Other cast members, such as Sonny (Greg Laurella) and Pinagua Guy (played by Pleasantville native Joey Sanzaro), provide welcome comedic support.

Numbers like “96,000″ display the cast’s collective talent, including the ensemble who maintain a lively stage presence as they either dance or walk to Miranda’s lively rap and Latin beats. A shout out must also go to choreographer Morgan Marcel who consulted with Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler to recreate the original dance moves from the show.

While the lyrics are difficult at times to decipher due to the highly amped music in a fairly small performance space, “In the Heights” is a thoroughly enjoyable show with an immensely talented cast. Set designer Steve Loftus deserves credit for adequately capturing a neighborhood in transition, complete with bodega, graffiti, old buildings, the George Washington Bridge and all.
