“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”-Buddy The Elf
This year “Christmas cheer” is alive and well at the Westchester Broadway Theatre with their rendition of Christmas Inn. I am a big kid at heart around Christmas so what better way to celebrate the season than to grab some family and friends and head to the theatre for an evening of food, drinks, and merriment! And even better, Westchester Broadway Theatre is a local gem!
Christmas Inn invites the audience on a magical journey that spans generations by intertwining two families; their love for one another and the holiday inn that binds them. The opening act showcases the Irish ancestors of the two main characters (Brewer & Baker). Their great-great grandfathers’ sense of adventure and loyalty lays the foundation for Christmas Inn.
The play jumps in time to catch up with the Brewer, Baker, and an ensemble cast of characters as they re-visit the Christmas Inn once more. The audience is treated to an abundance of holiday songs and dancing as they are welcomed into the world of Baker & Brewer, their inn, their fame, and their feud. You can’t help but fall for these characters and root for a Christmas Miracle!
There are many highlights of Christmas Inn as it is a thoroughly well done and enjoyable show, Westchester Broadway Theatre has set the bar high with this production and the cast of Christmas Inn.
My personal favorite was Maxine’s “12 Daze of Christmas”, I have never heard a Christmas Carol quite like it!
And just in case you did not get enough “Christmas cheer” from the feel-good play, the cast leads the audience in a good old-fashioned holiday sing-along as its final number. Even a “Grinch’s small heart would grow three sizes that day”!
