Travel to tropical Miami and Cuba with Broadway Hit, On Your Feet at Westchester Broadway Theatre! Follow the story of 26-time Grammy Award-winning power couple, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, as they rise through fame and break barriers in the United States music scene.

Emilio and Gloria were pigeonholed into singing exclusively for the Latin population and “Miami crowd”. Earlier in the duo’s career, they toured in South America and set their sights on hitting the American airwaves with a new fusion of music inspired by both American pop and Cuban beats. Their hit Conga encapsulates this with influence from genres of Latin music, funk, and American pop.

With hard work and a vision, Conga starts to climb the charts. Other songs featured in this musical from Emilio Estefan, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine include: Anything for You, Get on Your Feet and Coming out of the Dark.

Upbeat and fast dances memorized the audience and vocal performances -- especially from Maria Bilbo (Gloria Estefan), Jose Luaces (Emilio Estefan) and Karmine Alers (Gloria Fajardo) -- brought the audience to a standing ovation by the end of the performance.

A live band performs back behind the stage. The audience has several opportunities to watch the band perform throughout the show, which allows for a concert or even club-like feel to the show. I enjoyed the different costumes, which ranged from 1950's Cuban fashion to performance outfits donned by Gloria on stage.

On Your Feet is perfect for fans of these icon's music, but great for anyone who enjoys high energy and fun musicals. As a person who is not familiar with the music or story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, I found this production to be highly entertaining and enjoyable.

Between the performance of Gloria's Consuelo (Sandy Rosenberg), the children involved with the production and the inspiring story-  On Your Feet is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Don't believe me? Just ask the other audience members on their feet by the end of the show!

Make sure to see this play prior to August 4th! For more information and to learn more, visit Westchester Broadway Theatre online.
